What is title 24?

Title 24 Window Requirements for San Diego (Climate Zone 7)

San Diego is located in California Climate Zone 7 for Title 24 energy compliance.

Under the California Title 24, Part 6 Energy Code (Prescriptive Method), residential windows and glazed doors installed in new construction must meet the following maximum performance values:

Maximum U-Factor: 0.30
Maximum Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): 0.23

These are maximum allowable values, meaning the NFRC-rated performance of the window must be equal to or less than each value. Lower numbers indicate better energy performance.

All windows and glazed doors used to demonstrate compliance must be NFRC certified and labeled so their U-Factor and SHGC can be verified during permitting and inspection.

Selecting products that meet or exceed these requirements helps improve energy efficiency, reduce heating and cooling costs, and satisfy California's Title 24 Energy Code for Climate Zone 7.

Homes with high-performance window systems are more comfortable and consume less energy than homes with standard energy efficiency windows. High-performance (Title 24) windows perform better than a standard energy efficient window and has superior insulation.

Many companies will tell you their window is the best and sell you on the product because they only possess that product, whereas we can offer any of the brands so that you are not limited to only what they have to offer.

Most residential window replacements can be completed in a single day. Larger projects or full home retrofits may take two to three days. I will give you a clear timeline before any work begins so you can plan accordingly.
